GOVERNMENT

Civic renewal award
This award will go to the government project that best uses new media technology to contribute to civic society. Eligible bodies include local, regional and national government projects, police authorities, health trusts and any other civic institution.

Modernising government award
For the most innovative use of information communication technology at any level of government that improves efficiency and modernises services. Eligible bodies include both local and central government.

Elected representative award
This award will go to the elected representative who is using new media technology best to communicate with the electorate – be it using text messaging, weblogs or through a web site. This award is open to councillors, MEPs, MPs, MSPs and Members of the Welsh Assembly.


SCHOOLS

Best secondary school ICT project
This award will go to the school, teacher(s), class or school group that has done most to help develop real information and communication technology excellence amongst students aged 11-18. The judges will consider all school-based projects. The winning school will receive a prize of £500!

Best primary school ICT project
This award will go to the school, teacher(s), class or school group that has done most to help develop real information and communication technology excellence amongst students aged 4 - 11. The judges will consider all school-based projects. The winning school will receive a prize of £500!


COMMUNITY AND INFORMATION

Community and information award
This award will go to the individual or organisation that uses new media to give an alternative, informative voice enhancing democratic debate. Blogs and metablogs authored in the UK are eligible for this award.


INNOVATION

Innovation award
The award will go to the individual, organisation or company that has best used new media technology to improve public life. Eligible projects can include the use of Wi-fi, wireless, GPRS, mobile phone, smart phone, PDA, SMS, smart cards, Bluetooth and any other new communications technology.
